Question:

how do i get the sq yard on my sofa?

i want to recover my sofa but i dont know how much fabric to by. So can somone help me find out.

Answer:

some okorder /... that will give you pretty much what you need to figure out how much square yards you need for your project
Measure all surface areas to the closest foot then divide feet by three. Lenght by three, and width by three feet then lenght times width equals square yards plus add 25% for errors and cutoffs. Hoped we helped
typical sofa takes about 17 sq yards.
When you estimate yardage for reupholstery on a sofa you have to take into consideration the pattern of the fabric and the style of the sofa and the size of the sofa. In order to get exact yardage requirement, you'll need to have whoever is going to recover your sofa give you an estimate. Any professional upholsterer can do that. A hint...if you are using a fabric that is just a solid color something, have the upholsterer railroad the fabric (meaning the fabric runs on the sofa the way it comes off the bolt). You will use less fabric and have less seams. It only works with solids, though. If you try to do it with a pattern, it looks like the pattern is turned on it's side. A good rule of thumb for most medium sized (84 long) is to allow about 20-25 yards.
Add the width times the length and divide it by nine.
