My roommate's cat sleeps on my new sofa 24 hours a day. I would not mind if it was occasionally but he is always sleeping on it. He is a longhaired cat and the sofa is now covered in fur. The fur is very difficult to get off the fabric and my roommate does not offer to clean it up, so I just do not want the cat sleeping there. I tried spraying the sofa with an herbal spray that was supposed to keep animals off furniture but it did not work. The only other thing I can think of is covering the sofa in plastic but I really do not feel I should have to do that in my own house. My roommate is never home so I do not think training the cat to stay off with a spray bottle would work either. I am sick of cleaning up after her cat. How can I keep him off the sofa?
Look up,(the clicker-pet training). It's a very effectice way of training without hurting a pet. Work's good for both dog's cat's
Put empty soda cans on the sofa and gently push the cat off and say no no. They learn quickly if they like you.....so make a new friend
Well, your options are limited! You can either, 1. Throw the cat outside and lock all doors and windows. 2. Shave the cat. 3. Sell the cat. 4. Put up with a furry couch.
The easiest solution I have found it to put a nice blanket or throw over the spot the cat sleeps on. I have 2 and when one is in the wash, I use the other. Use rubber gloves (dishwashing gloves) to remove the hair. Works like a charm!
They are not purrfect but way better than any other hair removing tool I ever had so far. I got along it in our local dollar store and thought well one buck - who cares if I collect one more useless tool. And I was suprised how good it works. Update: If your roomie does not want to provide a blanket, go to the dollar store and get some cheap pet blankets and raise your roomies rent for 5 dollars :D I assume you kind of like the cat as well (except for sitting on your new sofa) because otherwise you would have kicked them out on the first chance you got.
