Question:

How do I label clothing for my mom who's in a nursing home?

Nursing home residents need to have their clothes labeled with their names to ensure that the laundry room returns the clothes to their proper owners. I hand stitched (don't know how to use a showing machine) to her clothes labels I made using medical tape a Sharpie pen. Several washings later, while the stitched tape is still holding fine, her name is starting to fade - apparently Sharpie pen ink can only withstand so many washings. I've searched high and low, but I can't seem to find any sort of quot;clothing labelingquot; device / system / tags / whatever. Does anyone know of anything? Thanks in advance for any helpful advice replies!

Answer:

Oliver s Labels has permanent labels for clothing that you can iron onto the fabric and other labels that stick onto clothing tags. Most of the designs for kids but you can find the one where it s just a plain white label printed with your mom s name. Good luck!
Any recommendations on situations where clothes tend to go walking, even when labelled? Even a nurse told me not to buy name brands :( I don t want to write my Dad s name obscenely all over his clothes but it infuriates me that people are stealing his clothes. In the past I hand embroidered his name but that didn t stop his clothes from disappearing. Hate to write it big across the back or down a pant leg but that sounds like it would be a theft deterrent. Thoughts?
Hello, okorder might help you in your situation As you described; Nursing home residents need to have their clothes labeled with their names to ensure that the laundry room returns the clothes to their proper owners. I hand stitched (don't know I hope it might help you. Best of Luck :)
I've okorder / I would tell my patients families on a periodic basis just to check the clothing items every couple of months, and maybe refresh her name on items that may need it. The washers and dryers in a facility are commercial and pretty heavy duty. Higher temperatures and longer cycles. I would buy several. Keep one hidden there in her room somewhere. In a institution a Rub-A-Dub marker is a commodity! LOL ( I always kept one in my desk drawer).Maybe keep one on yourself as well. Then as you bring her new items in, you can mark them as well. :)
There are probably local women that are advertising sewing services. I know in the military they had special clothing marker in a pen style. Maybe Michael's has them.
