If its just the color that's been removed try a bit of shoe polish if its not where you sit. Then rub it off. If its where you would sit, and you don't want to take the chance of having the shoe polish on your clothes go to the leather goods store and ask them if they have anything for purses, I'm willing to bet they do.
Yes. Numerous scratch covers are on the market and readily available in hardware stores, building supply stores etc. Make sure you get the right colour of scratch cover for your sofa.
Please do not use shoe polish or supermarket products, these will come off on your clothes and will not do the leather any good either. If this is just surface scratching use Easy Colour which is a pigment in an easy to use cream. Deeper scratches require pigment touch up.
Same thing happened to my leather sofas. There are conditioning leather wipes that you can buy that make the scratches less noticeable..but they're kinda smelly and the scratches are still there. We eventually just covered the sofas with blankets and sheets.
I did automotive upholstery for over 20 years, including leather, and I can tell you there is no easy, effective repair for damaged leather. I have tried every brand of repair kit and home remedy I could find over the years, and none of them worked well. Some of them improved the appearance of the leather a little bit but most of them did nothing or caused more damage. You can remove the leather from the sofa and have it redyed by a professional, but the cost of tearing down the sofa, having it redyed, and then recovering the sofa is usually more expensive than a new sofa. If it is on a cushion or skirt or some other easily removable piece then this solution is cost effective. But be warned, the new leather will be close in color but will not match the rest of the sofa no matter how good the dyer is. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. If you do find something that works then please inform every upholstery shop in your area. They are looking too.
