i want saltwater fish can someone instruct me i will pick best answer tonight
Here's the best advice you'll get. Buy more than one books and read them thoroughly. Then read them again. There are far too many things for you to learn before you even begin to think about purchases. This sort of forum will only get half-baked ramblings and poorly though out guesses. Get your advice from someone that signs their real name to their writing. The only place that would be worse than this would be the big box pet store. These people are fish experts one day and bird experts the next and the day after that they may be selling blenders in housewares.
you can't fix a leak without taking out the leaking joint, or section of pipe and replacing.
all the answers are correct here. your biggest problem will be draining ALL the water out of the system before replacing the problem fitting where the leak is occurring. i suggest using unions in case you have water problems.
with a torch, clean the pipe first; sand it with very fine emery cloth, then apply flux to the area where you want to put the solder. also, you should drain the pipe so it's empty of water, that way the pipe will get hot enough for the solder to stick, and penetrate the joint. good luck.
