Question:

How do I start getting into Real estate?

My mom is a real estate broker and makes damn good money with what she does. I asked her how it works, she tells me but I don't understand and then she points out that it's for very smart people and that I don't need it anyways. I love my mom, but grrr! You know. Anyways, I want to learn the steps of getting into Real estate, I do know a lot from what my mom tells me but I don't understand if you need a huge amount of money to start? Do you have to take classes? Is there an easier way to try it out? Is it ok to buy say a 2 story lake side house kind of place and what would I get out of it? What's the deal with selling property? All these kinds of questions...Main question is, What are the steps to getting into Real Estate and are there any short cut ways of getting into it?Thanks!

Answer:

There really aren't any short cuts as you have to go to school to be a Realtor. But there are other ways of learning the real estate business besides selling real estate. You can be a lender, like me! You have to start at the bottom, because there is a lot to learn and since the market is so slow everywhere right now, it's a great time to get into it to learn! That way when the market does pick up you can earn some money right away! Check with your state to see what steps you have to take to be a Realtor. Also, see if you can't get a desk job in a local real estate office. It's always easier to get a job if you are hired from within. Go to school while you work is probably the fastest way to get it done. Good luck and God bless!
It depends on where you live right now. For me, I live in Southern California so the procedure here is to take three classes: Real Estate Principle, Real Estate Practice, and an additional course that is closely related to real estate like business law...
Your mom may well be attempting to guard you from a crappy activity. easily relies upon on the place you want to artwork (u . s . a ., state, city, and so on). have you ever been observing television these days...there's somewhat issue interior the housing financial equipment. :) in any case, i will not be able to show you how to reason i'm a proprietor of a house, no longer an agent. i think of i'm making extra money than any agent will via possessing a house. working example, I assume when I sell my homestead, I might desire to stroll away with approximately a hundred thousand extra suitable than I paid 3 yrs in the past. think of approximately that one. ;)
if you want to be one.. Go to a real estate school and take the test and get a license. It's easy, you just need to have good communication skills and know how to post ads in craigslist or any site... You just need to spend money for the class. Real estate company is by commision basis, so if you don't get sales you don't get paid. But if you get a deal, it's really a big money! Just be patient in dealing with clients and be very informative,.. Know how to take good pics for your ads and be creative. Hope this helps!
Look in your yellow pages for real estate schools or see if you have a technical college that offers a real estate classes. I know here in NC that the sales person course is different than the Broker course. You have to take the sales person course first and then the broker course. After you finish the sales person course you take the state test. If you pass that you get your license as an agent. The broker course had the test in the class. I did not have to take a state test for that. After you get your license you can sell..........Your mom should be able to help you with the rest. This is how it is in NC. I am not sure what it is for where you are at. So you may want to check. But calling a real estate school will be able to give yu the answers you need. Good luck.......
