Question:

How do they preform a transvaginla ultrasound?

I'm also wondering if this kind of ultrasound will determine the sex of the baby. I will be 19 weeks at the time of the ultrasound.

Answer:

they wont do transvaginal at 19 weeks because the baby is so bug- thats usually for under 12 weeks- but its a prob like thing they stick in your vagina against your cervix- they will most like perform an abdominal scan on you
I think that is the one where they stick a rod ultrasound probe in you and do the ultrasound internally
at 19 weeks they should be doing a regular ultrasound. the best way to explain a transvaginal us is they take a probe that kind of looks like a giant dildo, and they put a protective covering over it that looks like a giant condom. they insert it through your vagina, and it has a doppler at the end of it that will pick up the image of the baby. ususally this type of us is only done durring very early pregnancy
It is indeed an internal ultrasound. At 19 weeks you would be able to determine the gender of the baby.
its a little probe with the Doppler on it that gets put up there, they usually put a condom or some sort of protection cover over it. Yes they should be able to tell the sex provided the little one is cooperative! Good luck.
