Question:

How do you clean bamboo knitting needles?

I'm using my bamboo needles to knit a sweater with some cheap yarn (Caron One Pound) and the dye is staining the needles a bitIs there a way to clean them without damaging them?

Answer:

Why do members of congress have a private gym and even a private elevator?.WHY?.mostly because of an apathetic, uncaring electoratethese elitists have been giving themselves many perks for decades now right out in front of the eyes of the voters, and the voters still elect the same people year after yearuntil such time that the people doing the electing pay attention and voicing their opposition and concerns before election time and then following thru with an informed, educated vote, more of this is to come.
Let me be frank with you, Winona; this is actually one of the things you really don't have to worry aboutThese are all explainable The fact is, members of Congress must do a great deal of work and spend a great deal of time on Capitol HillThey have committees to attend, people to meet, and many, many votes to cast on a variety of measuresAll of these things actually require them to be physically present a good deal of timeHaving a gym close by enables them to work out, and still make important votes and meetingsAnd having private elevators also helpsThere are a lot of people prowling the halls looking to grab members and tug on their ears at all timesThe members need to be safe, at least when they rise the elevatorThese are no real problem; don't worry about themThere's a great deal of fraud, waste and abuse elsewhere; but this isn't it.
The gym is a perk but they actually need the elevator which they share with staff There are often lines for the public ones because of the large number of tourists.
Because they like to waste moneyDon't get me wrong I love the government and America but some of the people in the white house spend money badly and that's something that needs to be fixed.
You could try a bit of wood soap, but in general once the fibers are stained by dye it would need to be sanded out, which removes the finish and leaves the needle vulnerable to splintering and snagging the yarnUsually crocking dye is not transferred from the needle onto other yarns, though, so you probably don't need to worryIt will wear off eventuallyBTW, if you use wood soap (something like Murphy's Oil Soap) make absolutely sure that you use more than enough toweling to remove all residue from the needles when you are drying themThe oil in the soap will do more to stain your yarn than the dye that has penetrated the needlesAnd this happens with all types of yarn if the dye comes off, although it is unusual for it to happen with even the cheapest of acryllic yarns, since acryllic is dyed when still in liquid form before the fibers are extruded.
