Question:

How do you fix my car hoods hydraulic lift?

My car has two hydraulic lifts on it.. one goes down all the way but the other only goes down maybe 95% of the way... So one side of my hood is closed fully while the other side is ajar a little.. Is there a way to release some of the pressure??

Answer:

they are called gas springs and can be purchased at a parts store ,you should replace both of them
uhmm there just those little air things if im thinking rite like they have on doors....you just go to your local scrapyard or lordco or shucks and pick a couple up
That's gas springs. These are commonly used to support the weight of vehicle doors while they are open.
Try using a product called 'rubbing compound'. You can find it at any car parts store and it won't damage your cars paint. Someone lost a can of white paint on the highway in front of me and it got all over the back fender of my own car. This stuff got it off reatively easily on mine.
They are not hydraulic lifts, they are high pressure gas springs. They are not modifiable, and if you try, you will be lucky if you kill yourself - the alternatives are worse. Inspect to see if the mounting locations can be adjusted, if not, you'll need to get a replacement.
