I am having new white carpeting installed in my house. Curious how others who have white flooring keep it clean.
if your so concerned why are you putting down white carpet. I know it's the cheapest, but you should have purchased a different color. I have light beige carpet in my house and I have plastic runners everywhere and cover the rest with large area rugs until I can afford to rip it up and put down hardwood florring.
Therefore, keeping a carpet clean by preventative maintenance and protection alongside a good cleaner will make your carpet last for years to come. Hope this helps you out, aboveaveragejoe
Hi Amanda, The best advice I have to keep white carpet clean or any carpet is to have a no shoes rule in your house. I have been told by many people that shoes can damage the carpet fibers. If you remove your shoes at the door you are less likely to track dirt onto the carpet. Once you remove your shoes you should wear white socks. Colored socks can leave behind the dye on your white rug, and barefeet leave behind oils.
Make a policy that everyone who enters your home, first take their shoes off. Have other shoes or slippers handy near entrance. To help keep your white carpet clean and spot free, be sure to vacuum often and steam clean at least once a year. Also areas that have been cleaned but still look soiled, especially when there are lights on, keep in mind that even when a carpet has been thoroughly cleaned, there will be some traffic areas that will look darker than other areas. These dark areas on the carpet are often called improper light reflection areas.
