Question:

How do you preform a wheel alignment?

I have a 2005 Chevy Cobalt and its starting to drift to one side. How easy is it to preform a wheel alignment and do I need a special tool to do so?

Answer:

Look at your tire pressure first
first thing you should do is check your air pressure,a wheel alignment has to be performed at a automotive repair shop.
You can't do an alignment in your driveway. You have to take it to a pro with an alignment machine. It may not need an alignment. It could be a bad or low tire.
Unless you are simply curious or operating as a mechanic, it is particularly now not main to grasp what Camber, Caster, Toe-in, Steering Axis Inclination (SAI), Included Angle, Scrub Radius, Riding Height, Set Back, Thrust Angle, Steering Center and Toe Out on Turns. In its so much fundamental type, a wheel alignment is composed of changing the angles of the wheels in order that they're perpendicular to the bottom and parallel to one another. It's particularly that practical.
Unfortunately it is almost impossible to do one your own as you will require an alignment rack to actually ensure that your wheels are aligned properly. There are some people that will suggest you just toe in one side and toe out the other slightly but your car will be driving diagonally before long. Save yourself the headache, and keep everyone else safe have a local shop do it for the $60 its worth. If you want you could try rotating your tires before going for a wheel alignment as that may cure the problem.
