We have a 1990 Plymouth Voyager and we need to put on new wheel bearings (well my husband says the whole hub)..does anyone know how to go about this?
Go to your local library, search under Automotive Repair Manuals: Haynes, Chilton and such, look for the make and model. The manual will explain your husband what tools he will need and give him detailed explanation with pictures and/or drawings. If he find the book useful he can buy it at your local parts shop or bookstore.
remove wheel remove brake caliper remove brake rotor (will just slide off at this point) remove 4 bolts fastening hub assembly (they should be easy to see at this point) reinstall in reverse order
heres what you do the 1st step: Get a screwdriver and hammer Step 2: positioned the screwdriver interior the process the bearing and wheel Step 3: positioned yet another wheel below the single you like the bearing is going in Step 4: Pound the real of the screwdriver with the hammer till the bearing is going each of ways in Step 5: Lather, rinse, repeat if nessecary
K Towe, I believe in that model of vehicle, the bearings are pressed on. Therefore, the spindle would have to be removed and taken to someone that has the equipment to press the old bearing off and press the new bearing on. If the problem is just the hub. then that is much easier. You just take the tire off, and pull off the hub and replace. You may have to beat the hub off because of it's age and rust and stuff. But I believe you will have to do that anyhow in order to get to the spindle. Hope this helps, J
okorder about getting those bearings. Good Luck!
