my 1 year old cats ripped our sofa to pieces so we got new leather sofas but how do we stop them scratching them too . At the moment they are outside day and night but they can't really live out there because we live in the country side and who knows what they could do !!
Try rubbing something on it that they don't like. It would have to be something gentle or risk ruining your sofa. How about lemon juice.... or mash some cloves in oil and rub that on it. I don't have leather sofas but I think i'm right in saying you can get oil for them anyway, so is it wotyh trying cloves in leather oil. They won't go near it. Add a scratch post too, but you'll need to do the sofa or they won't learn to use the post.
put some double sided tape on your sofa, cats hate that. Once she sets her paws on the tape, she'll hate it and become bored of your sofa. Then you can Just take off the tape and enjoy your sofa!
You can clip the cats claw so that it cant rip ur sofa up
We have three cats and stopped the clawing madness by making a cat tower with sauna tubes,2x4s and old carpet we saved. They are so focused on jumping around on the thing they forget about the couch.
First get them a scratching post. Then watch them around the sofa and any time they even get on it squirt them with a water bottle. I trained all of my cats this way and they never scratch furniture or get on the table or anything :) And they learn fast so you should only have to do it fo a few days. Hope this helps :)
