Question:

How do you treat metal sheets to make them photo-sensitive?

I went to an art fair today at our local park, and a woman was selling images printed in daguerreotype fashion on copper and stainless steel sheets. She said she treated the metal to make them photosensitive and to allow it to take an image from film.I was wondering what chemical would allow copper or stainless steel to become photosensitive and then fixed into an image.
