Question:

How does acetic anhydride react to water? What are the right safety gloves for working with acids?

Hi! I want to synthesize aspirin, and have now gotten hold of all the chemicals required to do so (salicylic acid, sulfuric acid, acetic anhydride). I've just started learning Chemistry (trying to take my high school diploma in distant learning) and still have little knowledge, and thought it seemed like a simple synthesis to get started (thus gaining better understanding). Now before I start, I wanted to do some research on safety aspects. I therefore have a few questions; 1: What happens if acetic anhydride gets into contact with water (eg through spill or recently washed, still wet equipment)? 2: What material should the safety gloves used in this operation be made of? I wanted to buy some, but am unsure about which materials are ok and which will dissolve when in contact with acid? Thanks

Answer:

Yes i've tried them but it's hard to get the very ends of your hair curled..the ends are always this weird shapemy hair is also VeRy straight so i had to spray it down with gobs of hairspray to get it to hold good. Also the material the curlers are made of is a rubber type so my hair got tangled easily I wouldn't recommend buying them.
who is going to spice up a 17 year old, dime a dozen SUV? examine the instructions two times, then examine them 2 greater cases formerly slicing wires, and examine them back once you stick to the 1st step.
