Question:

how does adding an exhaust system to your car give it more power?

how does adding an exhaust system to your car give it more power?

Answer:

The factory exhaust on cars was designed to be quiet and somewhat fuel efficient. Replacing the exhaust allows the engine to breath better, and more air for the engine allows it to expel exhaust gasses faster so the car can burn fuel quicker and the car gets more horespower. I have custom exhaust on my crx and a AEM intake on the crx and a Injen intake on my prelude. Gains vary between 10 to 20 horsepower.
If u get a good exhaust system, then the exhaust leaves the car easier and under less pressure, this means the engine doesnt have to build up as mush exhaust pressure to get rid of the exhaust, giving you more power out of ur engine.
its not adding an exhaust system its called changing it in stock cars the exhaust system is tuned to let a constricted amount of airflow; air to fuel ratio is bad if u get a new exhaust system usually people get a bigger one r one with more holes, thus the air flow is easier and better and improves the fuel to air ratio this causes a power increase but most people don't do it right so it also causes an improper air flow and a stupid huge noise if u do it right those problems don't exist and yes the power does go up very much depending on ur new exaust system
