Question:

How does an electric motor pump water?

I would like to make a simple electric pump that can pump water. I would like to know how it works. I would be most thankful if you can provide me a link of an animated video on how motor works.

Answer:

I am not 100% sure but i think the motor turns turbine blades which move/pump the water
Electric motors do NOT pump water, they need to be coupled to a pump to do that. What is a hand driven motor? The word motor implies electric driven. Perhaps you mean hand operated pump?
Pump And Motor Works
I don’t think I’ll ever understand why some people will go through the effort to ask simple questions here when the “answers” are two clicks away. Google images for “water pump diagram”. Seriously, or is this another question from India. I’m starting to think they don’t get Google over there for some reason. anyway…… The issue here is you have not defined the problem very well. How much water do you intend to pump? Is it from a well and how deep is it? The most primitive hand powered water pump I can imagine is a crank and bamboo cups on a rope (for lack of better terminology). You tie a bunch of old water bottles or milk jugs to circular rope and sling it over a pulley. Crank on the handle and drag up a container of water. It gets to the top, pores out, and goes back down. Simple, cheap, hand powered water pump! (and quite appropriate for developing nations – heck, may even get a Piece Prize for implementation)
