The more powerful geothermal energy comes from deep within the earth, where the temperature is hot enough to melt the surrounding rocks. That picture shows a standard thermal heating system. There are two closed loops - one with heat exchange fluid that is pumped in the loop on the left (down the well, and back up to the surface). THere is a heat exchanger where the two closed loops come into close contact with each other. You can then use the hot liquid for whatever you need it for. The sources are helpful because... we use geothermal wells for heating... and... solar panels.
