Question:

How important is a bracket in braces?

I have a loose bracket and this is the the third time this has happened. I saw the ortho yesterday and they fixed it but it's loose again! So im wondering if it slows the process in closing my gap.and what is it's function anyways?

Answer:

very important - the brackets are the things that move your teeth - you've gotta get it fixed ASAP because if the bracket isn't fastened to your tooth, then that tooth isn't moving, and that will make your treatment time longer
very important get a appt asap.
VERY important without them their would be no point of brace if its loose then hiers nuttin for the wire to attach to
That occurred to me once I had my braces a pair months in the past. It grow to be awful. The cord began to scratch my cheek and that i could no longer consume, talk, or drink something without it being immensely painful yet they could no longer get me into the workplace for a pair days. I advise you call no count number if that's in any way painful. And in case you won't be able to get an appt. quickly, use wax, candle wax, or folded up paper towels(worked superb for me) to assist.
The bracket pulls the teeth to the wire (i.e. straighten/close gaps in teeth). You need to have it put back on with in the next few weeks, esp if it is on a front tooth. Yes, if you don't get it fixed it will slow the closure of you gap. Generally brackets fall off because you are eating foods that you shouldn't.hard foods, sticky foods. etc. Talk to your orthodontist about it. Esp if you don't know which foods you should avoid. It could also be the doctor/assistant is not cleaning your tooth off enough, therefore the glue will not stick, and that is why the bracket does not stay on.
