Question:

how is light received by the eye?

how does the eye recieve light?

Answer:

Light enters the eye passing through the cornea (the clear front part of the eye) and lens and then hits this retina. The retina contains cells called photoreceptors. Within the photoreceptors are molecules (rhodopsin) that change their conformation when stimulated by light. This change triggers an electrical impulse which is sent to the brain.
