Question:

How likely will my engine hydrolock if i get a cool air intake?

I read somewhere that cool air intake increases the chances of a hydrolock. If im getting a cool air intake do I need to be worried?

Answer:

Most cars come with a cool air intake these days. Even my 1988 Chrysler K-Car had one. The intake was behind the left headlight. You will not get full hydrolock but on my 2004 Ford Focus I have had an issue of enough water getting sucked in to get the mass air flow sensor wet which caused performance issues until it dried off again. I had to make a deflector for the cool air intake. The intake is just above the ground in front of the left front tire.
Hi, you may already have a cool air intake You don't say what you are working on. If you have a newer car 90's and newer and it has EFI then you already have it. If you have a tube that goes from your intake down to under the front of the car you already have one If you don't the reason of hydrolock is because the intake is at the bottom of the motor and front of the car. and there is a chance to intake water if you go thru a puddle that is deeper than the intake at the bottom of the car Rain water should not be a problem good luck tim
He probably reset it. That's my best guess b/c I'm not very well practiced in that field. Good luck!
