and would it look weird if i advertise for a girl to teach me to ride (im a girl) i think i‘d be more comfortable with that
I think you would end up with a flake as a teacher. If you don't have a friend to teach you than go take a real class. If you already know how to ride a bicycle then you can probably jump right on a scooter, and you could be doing fine on a motorcycle in less than an hour.
Learning to control a motorcycle can take less than an hour if you are not afraid of using the throttle when you are supposed to and you don't squeeze the brake when you get nervous. It takes not even half a day to learn how to ride but the process of learning to ride safely on public road takes weeks, months and years. Take the MSF course and take any extra training you can afford until you are confident. There are lots of female motorcycle instructors and other girls to learn to ride with.
It doesnt take long at all! im a 15 yr old girl and i started learning at the start of the year (but i ride dirtbikes) and it took me the second or third time we went to the motorbike park until i was confident with changing gears. You just have to get used to the bike, its power and changing gears, and also to find neutral (which is inbetween 1st and 2nd gear). Im not sure if yours is a dirtbike or a road bike, but i know for sure with a dirtbike you need to learn how to kickstart it, and what i mean by that is if you stall the bike and youre in gear, then you need to pull the clutch in and kickstart it, and kick down to 1st gear to get going again. Otherwise kickstart it in neutral as you dont need to pull the clutch in. Its just basic stuff like that that you need to learn, but a lot of it is common sense! Im pretty sure road bikes would be very similar to all of this! Its really fun once youre confident and no its fine about a girl teaching you! Its absolutely fine! Hope this helps :)
