Question:

how many in the nascar nation of YA grows their own veggie garden?

i really enjoy getting off of work and going straight to my garden.nothing like home grown veggies.

Answer:

Well now that summer finally got here in Calif, I have a small patio garden with bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, and Catnip for the cats, I have basil, rosemary, red peppers, don;t know about the eggplant its not doing that good, but all the Chili peppers and jalapenos are looking great, I do have garlic and onion as well, got some cucumbers almost ready. I just wish I had room to grow big tomatoes like my mom and grandma use to grow back in NC, dang I miss those great tomato sandwiches in the summer. Winter: please let me know how that hanging tomatoe thing goes I've seen it, and want to try it but, I just think its too good to be true. My dang patio is too small for all the plants, I have plenty room to hang one of those things. Go Dale Jr Hms
I grow my own tobacco plants and will probably plant a few watermelons cuz they're so good straight from the garden. The tobacco costs almost nothing to grow, but it's a lot of work. It's worth the trouble for inexpensive, chemical-free tobacco.
I don't have a veggie garden but I do have a flower garden and I am with you on coming home and working in my gardens. So funny weeding and digging in the dirt is so relaxing for me. I love my gardens. Winter----please tell me how that topsy turvy thing works out I was going to get one but never did. I hope you get big beautiful red yummy tomatoes out of it!
Home gardening is so cool. I like when people make thier front yards into works of art, with plants, flowers, bushes (Busch's), etc. Home gardening is very therapeutic and relaxing. I don't do it, but I know lots of people who do. I almost envy them. But then again, i'm not enough of a homebody. I would end up neglecting my garden so I could go take off and get Rowdy, see new places and meet new people. But I will always be around to watch the game... oops! I meant race.
I once had a nice veggie garden when I lived in Arizona, and it did really good, until the day I got home from work and in that 9 or 10 hours the ^%$*# grasshoppers literally came from nowhere and ate it down to the stalks. :-( This year here in Florida I put a couple of tomato plants in a small cut off plastic barrel, but they didn't do so well. (They were called Talladega tomatoes and I just had to give it a try!) I got 2 tomatoes and that was it. My husband calls all the plants I bring home victims.
