Question:

How much do you think a brand new exhaust system would be for a V6 mustang?

I want to get some idea because I was thinking about buying a V6 mustang and upgrading the exhaust to something that rumbles. I know it wont probably be as loud as the GT but something that rumbles. maybe rumble just a little bit. I only like the GT‘s because their loud and their dual exhaust. Other then that I would want a V6 with the same features at a GT minus the motor and BAD gas mileage lol

Answer:

real hard if there is still water in them.
v6 mustang with aftermarket exhaust.sounds really horrible.
you can probably get a good cat back system for around 4 or 5 hundred dollars , but if gas mileage is your only objection to the gt do some more research i'll bet you find it isnt that much worse than the v6
I just beefed up my '01 v6 with magaflow products. Go to local exhaust shops (or buy the following parts if you have the mechanical skill) and get pricing for an X pipe after the cats with two magnaflow mufflers. Mine cost $450 for parts and labor and since exhaust flows through an X pipe rather than gathering in a stock Y pipe, back pressure is reduced significantly. My car has a nice, deep rumble (no ricer lawnmower sound) especially between 2-3k on the tachometer. It also has better gas mileage (less work on the engine pushing exhaust out) and I saw around a 10-12 HP (even more with a cold air intake) gain in performance. Not to mention, the car just looks better with two, shiny tailpipes opposed to one rusty one. Be sure to ask about emissions testing if it applies in your area. Happy hunting, you won't be disappointed.
