ive heard that ceramics are slower than braces during the treatment periodso how much longer would they take to be straight?metals for me would be 2 years so would ceramics be 2 1/2 or maybe 3 years?

Howdy, The reason why people say ceramic brackets may be slower is due to what we call, sliding mechanics, in terms of tooth movement. Some ceramic brackets do not have a metallic slot so technically - when you try to slide ceramic (bracket attached to your teeth) and metal (wire) - the friction tends to be slightly higher, slowing down movement. This is all in engineering scenarios and mechanics by the way. However, having said that - the difference would be clinically insignificant. Meaning that the difference in time may be a few days at MOST in extreme situations. If anything - there would be no differences in terms of tx time with ceramic brackets so I wouldnt worry about it at all.
