I got my family's 1998 Ford Expedition for my first car... I'm thinking about getting a 3" suspension lift. About how much would it cost to get this done? And what are some good reasons to persuade my dad into letting me do this?

It depends what brand the lift is, where you get it done at. Just tell him you want to make your first car different.
Sorry dude... don't wanna dash your dreams... I agree with your dad... if you get a lift kit done properly is runs into some bucks and once you have it lifted you will need another $2 grand for wheels and tires cause the old ones are gonna look stupid... get you a little escort or honda to roll in and then spend your spare change on the gas guzzler...
Easy , just tell him you want to waste your money and make the vehicle even more unstable than it already is, plus you want it to stand out with the lift kit and small tires. I would not do it to that vehicle at all, they don`t handle that well when they are not lifted.
save your money.. a 13 yr old car is gona need lots of cash to keep running..any dollar you put in is a dollar wasted...have you ever filled up the empty gas tank? [paid out of your own pocket}? 60 to 70 dollars...
