I am getting braces soon and I hear about people who just got braces 1 day ago and their brackets fall off!!! I don't want this to happen to me! Also how often do you swallow a piece of your bracket?God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving!
Brackets Falling Off Braces
since the brackets are in the wire, there is no way you can swallow it. The bracket will just move around on the wire, it won't actually fall off. But you will need to go to the orthodontist to get it glued back on. Don't worry about things such as these. It's really not a big deal if one dos fall off. Just don't chew hard food like apples, etc. Cut them into bite size pieces. The brackets only fall off when a food puts pressure on the bracket, and since the cement is not that strong [which holds the bracket], it will fall off. But really, don't worry about it, you won't die from that. How often do they fall off? Well from the wire, almsot never. But from your tooth, uhhm it depends. If you like candy and chewing things, that it can be quite often, if you don't then it might never fall off. One of my friends who really doesn't care what she eats with her braces, her bracket fallls off like once in 2 months.
I had one bracket fall off 3 times. It didn't fall of because I was eating something I wasn't supposed to. It just didn't have enough tooth there to keep it glued. They finally had to put a band like the ones on your back teeth that hold the wires in place. I had that for the rest of the time in braces.

My bracket just fell off I was eating a carrot (which they said I could do as long as they were baby carrots) and just popped right off. But tomorrow I'm going to get it glued back on. But mine wasn't connected to a wire because there was still a baby tooth next to the the tooth with the bracket that fell off. But the bracket that fell off, with my braces it won't effect the proses at all. If it does fall off it doesn't matter just call your ortho and that's all that will happen.
