Question:

How should I heat my home, what would be the least expensive and most efficient way?

We have about a 1200 square foot house with no way to heat it right now. No furnace, woodstove, propane or coal heat.

Answer:

Heat pumps are very efficient these days, gas has gotten so out of hand it's the best way to go.
Radiant floor heat with a boiler system or a hot water heater with a pump. You also need manifolds and if you get the boiler, then you will also need a heat exchanger. This only works if you have access to the underside of your floors. There is nothing more efficient or more even heating than this. If you get a wood stove, even if you cut and season your own wood, what is your time worth to you?
