Question:

How to change transmission pump seal in a 93 mustang lx?

Leaking fluid in front of transmission

Answer:

Support the car on jack stands. Disconnect the negative battery cable. CAREFULLY Disconnect the throttle valve cable from the throttle body. Pull the driveline. (12mm) Remove the torque converter to flexplate nuts. Support the trans with a floor jack. Disconnect transmission cooler linesRemove transmission mount-crossmember nuts (14mm). Remove the starter motor. Remove crossmember-frame thru bolts. Remove speedo sending unit. Disconnect the shifter cable. Slightly lowering tail of trans will give increased clearance to remove the 6 engine-to- bellhousing bolts (5/8)lowering it too far will make a mess in your floor when fluid runs out the tailhousing. Disconnect the neutral safety switch and computer wiring harnesses. You should be able to wrestle the trans free at this point. Remove the torque converter.I'd remove the dipstick tube and dump all possible fluid from the trans use a pair of 2x4's to support the transmission, upright, in a 5-gallon bucket or similar container. With the converter removed, you can see the seal that needs replacing.
