Question:

How to clean reptile carpet?

Hello I have a repti carpet coming today or tomorrow for my leopard gecko, so I'm just wondering how do I clean the repti carpet?Do I need to clean it with disinfectant liquid or can it go in the washing machine?

Answer:

For loose debris and bits, take it out and give it a good shake like a rug. For tough 'stains', I use a spare, unused coarse-bristle toothbrush to bring them out of the carpet, then wash it down in the bath tub with hot water. I would not use any chemicals. Use only disinfectants that are reptile-friendly, which you can usually find at pet stores. I have never put my reptile carpet in the washing machine, because I get the feeling it would probably disintegrate.
Reptile Carpet
I wouldn't recommend the washing machine; repti-carpet is basically just felt material and can easily become destroyed in a washing machine. Personally, I take some hot water in a large mixing bowl and some Dawn dish soap and wash the carpet by hand. I usually let it soak for a while to help loosen any debris before scrubbing. Then I rinse it well and let it air dry. Easy and works like a charm.
My little brother has a leopard gecko and of course I get stuck cleaning its cage what i I do is I take every thing out of the cage and then I pick up the carpet so nothing comes out and take it out side and shake it out then I wash it out in the tub or out side if the weather is nice then I ring it out and let it dry you could prolly use a washing machine but set it to delicate
