Question:

How to cut foam case lining?

I've got an aluminium case for some glass equipment and want to cut out spaces in the foam lining to keep the items secure? Can anyone please tell me how to do it to make it look tidy and proffessional? And make it function?Any links to instructions or clips would be very much appreiatedThanks.

Answer:

The ripples are where the paint got a little thick and wanted to run but was already dryingFor best results you would need to re-sand that area and repaint but it may not be as noticeable after you put on the finish coats without sandingGood luck.
If the pieces you want in the foam lining are rounded and you want round depressions, I am not sure how you would do thatIf you manage to pull the lining, or have additional foam to add, you can use a craft knife, scalpal looking thing, or a utility knifeUse the pieces as templates and draw around themIf there are two pieces of foam, and you have rounded stuff to put in, I would try to work out the flat stuff and hope the rounded edges of your stuff will compress the foam enough to give it a memory and hold it in placeOther than that, there are sewing electric scissors that could help.
