Answer:

There's the straight manual typewriter, in which the type bars are raised and strike the ribbon, (and paper) with a dowward stroke of the key. These machines are completely manual and human-powered. The downward push of the key raises the typebar, which strikes the paper with sufficient velocity to make an impression on the paper through the ribbon. At the same time, an escapement mechanism releases and allows the carriage to move one step to the left, ready for the next impression. At the end of the line, the carriage is moved back manually with the carriage return lever. Then there is the electric typewriter, more properly called power-assisted. It has the same basic mechanism, but there is a motor-driven rubber cylinder inside the machine, called the power roller. Depressing a key causes a cam to lower and make contact with the cylinder. The velocity of the revolving cylinder throws the cam up and this motion causes the typebar to strike. On these machines, the carriage return, and a few other functions, also work off the power roller. Hope this helps.
Nothing. Sign the ticket and move your car. It doesn't matter how long you were there. The law doesn't say you can't block a hydrant for more than a certain amount of time, it says you can't block one at all. Don't forget to pay your fine.
My son has the access codes for parent portal. He is 17 but he has been able to access it since he started high school. I don't see a reason for a student not to be able to check their own grades. It helps him to see if he has missing assignments.
