Question:

How to freshen a smelly carpet?

Okay so I know a lot of you are like ew, why does your carpet smell? But I need some serious help its embarrassing. My aunt smokes and I borrowed some shoes from her and if you've ever come in contact with a smoker you know the smell gets into everything. My room started to smell of musty cigerette's and I found it was the carpet because of the shoes. I've tried this Glade Carpet Room Odors but it just seems to mask the smell terribly instead of getting rid of it. I'm thinking I might have to clean it on hands and knees, using some soap and water.

Answer:

initially you men ought to handle the clarification for dampness. probable your drains are finished of leaves etc and particularly of H20 draining off it is going into the basement partitions...Or another situation like that. Is there ponding on the roof or something like that ? next, run a fan or another warmth producing ventilating gadget like that. Use fabreeze ?
Remove it and burn it. Then get polished boards or tiles.
Wow... I have never heard of carpet smelling like smoke because of some shoes but, You can clean it or you can put some carpet fresh on it and leave it there for a few days ( it its not a large area ). If it is a large area, leave it there as long as you can..
You can purchase carpet fresh and place this on the carpet 15 minutes before you vacuum and then vacuum it up. It may take several applications over a few weeks to cure the problem. I used baby powder and that worked just fine. Don't inhale the powder when you put it down. Or you can use any other scented body powder. I like the fragrance better than carpet fresh.
