Question:

How to grease bearings on 98 cavalier?

We just got a 98 cavalier and it makes a sound when we make a right turn. It also make the sound when we drive straight but you can barely here it. We were told by a family member that the bearings probably need greased. How do you do that? DOes it sound like the bearings to you? Thanks

Answer:

Chances are that your cv joints are worn out and need replacing. You can not grease these and make them better. The cv joints are kinda like u-joints. When you turn your steering, it puts the joints in a bind, hence the noise... usually a clunking or popping noise. Might as well replace both sides at once... When one goes, the other will be right behind it... Good luck........
if you can greese them you take them off the spindle put the greese in the palm of you hand and smack the bearing across the greese but if this is the problem your bearing may be sealed and if this is so you will need to buy new ones. 2nd i would look at the 1/2 shaft does it make a clicking noise?if so its the 1/2 shaft not the bearing hope this helps. p.s. on a 99 gmc 3/4 ton 4x4 to get a bearing you have to buy the rotor and all as it is made as a single unit it happened to me $400.00 latter it was fixed
fantastically much anorexic. whilst i replaced into 5'0 and ninety 8 pounds and interior the wellbeing midsection for something else, they asked mom if I ate. in any respect. She suggested sure, like a horse, yet I exercised continuously.
It okorder , they have step by step directions. Just curious, how many miles are on the Cavalier?
if it is the front wheel bearing the noise / vibration will increase on turning . on most new cars , yours included the front and rear wheel bearings are sealed . the other thing you need to check is the CV jionts , if the bbot has torn allowing water and dirt to get into the jiont it could also be the problem . the sound of a bad bearing is like driving on stone/ gravel road and will be constant with speed , a bad CV jiont will vary with the amount of tourque put on the drive line
