it goes to the neutral bus bar in the breaker panel. Using standard wire colors, the black or hot wire will go to the breaker, the white or neutral will go to the neutral bus bar, the bare copper wire or ground wire will go to the ground busbar. In the main panel, the neutral busbar will also be grounded to the ground busbar so you may see ground and neutral wires going to the same busbar. In a subpanel, keep grounds and neutrals separate.
