I would like to collect a soft drink can unopened (not Coke) but I would like to know a few things.1) Can it explode?2) How often does it leak out?
Many people collect full cans of soft drinks or beerIf the can is aluminum, it shouldn't leak or erode the canThe old steel cans could eventually rust along the seam and eventually leak, but there are few, if any, of those made anymore, at least in the U.SEven so, I have unopened beer cans from 70's that are still in excellent shape As long as the can is kept at a stable temperature, and not exposed to extreme heat or cold, the can should never explodeLastly, it's your choice to collect full or empty cansbut it's generally acceptable to empty the can and usually has little effect on future valueHowever, IF you empty the can, do it from BOTTOM OF THE CAN and leave the top intact and sealedEDIT: Deejay, if it's an American can, it's almost surely aluminumA steel can is much harder than aluminumGently squeeze the can on the sides, if you have access to itIf it 'gives' with gentle pressure, it's aluminum-hope this helps!
