i want to open my fire extinguisher, but if its not gas cartridge will it like explode in my face? is there anyway of knowing whether its cartridge powered or stored pressure powered without opening it?

Make sure the 'testing' button isn't accidently pushed in if your house is smokey try opening windows, blowing a fan on the detector. If I knew the cause such as a smokey house, it would be a lot easier to give you advice
just take the batteries out of all of them
