So I found iron,gold,red stone, and coal in mine craft but it won‘t let me mine it with the pick axe like it will with the stone. I read on another website It said that you had to mine gold and diamonds and red stone and coal with iron pick axes. But how do I mine the iron. I mean it does let me mine it but it takes a long time and it dosent give me anything so how can I mine iron

in order to mine iron ore in minecraft PE, all you need is a STONE pickaxe or stronger, if your using a wooden pickaxe then that wouldn't work because wooden pickaxes are the weakest pickaxes in the game, they can only mine stone, (or any other stone-related blocks) and coal ore, but will not be able to mine iron ore. stone pickaxes will do since their add on ability to mine even more things compared to the wooden pickaxe, they will be able to mine, coal ore, stone, iron ore, and probably lapis lazuli ore. (look it up if you don't know what that is) but anyway, just for your information that will probably help you in the future, here is a list of types of pickaxes that is available in the game currently and their abilities starting from the weakest, to strongest: 1. Wooden pickaxe: will mine, stone, and stone-related blocks, and coal ore. 2. Stone pickaxe: will mine, stone, and stone-related blocks, coal ore, lapis lazuli ore, and iron ore 3. Golden pickaxe: will mine, stone, stone-related blocks, coal ore, iron ore, and lapis lazuli ore. Golden pickaxes will not be able to mine its own ore 4. Iron pickaxe: will mine, stone, stone related-blocks, coal ore, iron ore, gold ore, redstone ore, (although will mine, but you will not get anything currently in the game) diamond ore, and of course lapis lazuli ore 5. Diamond pickaxe: will mine, stone, stone-related blocks, coal ore, iron ore, gold ore, redstone ore, lapis lazuli ore, diamond ore, and obsidian.
