Question:

How to start looking into apartment/house rentals (for some recent college grads in their early 20s)?

My friends and I are looking to start moving out of our parent's houses now that college is starting to wrap up and more and more of us are starting to get jobsThere are a lot of us so we were thinking of looking into larger apartments or even houses to split rent to make it cheaperBut honestly, none of us really know what we're doingDoes anyone have any tips of what we could do to get started house hunting? We're on a pretty low budget living in a pretty expensive area (which I'm hoping not to move too far from)Also, I'm ok but a few of us are in pretty bad living situations at home, so things are getting a bit more urgentI don't want to be pushed into a crappy living arrangement because we're in a hurry and don't know any better.Any tips would be helpful, Thank You!

You shouldn't live in a place where your share of the rent costs more per month than 4x your income although some places will allow you to rent when your income is only 3x the rentMy experience with roommates? They get better jobs and transfer out of the city, they get married, you don't get along and someone moves out sticking the others with their share of the rent, etcSomething is always going on and moving is frequentLive BELOW your means and save money and get a place by yourself as soon as possibleDiscuss sleepovers and foodYou don't want someone's girlfriend unofficially moving in, using up utilities and space without contributing to rent or foodMy first apartment was small and furnished in one of those old houses converted into apartmentsDidn't have a shower or laundry room or air conditioningNo elevatorNo carWalked to workBut it was mine and I could afford it and didn't have to change where I lived because of roommates.
They will work fine, just grease them first with butter, and take them home with you and use them at home, or sell them as scrap metalWe used them for decades before no stick came along H-man
