I was just wondering is there a way to tell if the transmission is the original not a swap? I have a 2001 ford crown victoria
Tough question. I would guess a car has the original transmission, unless the original suffered major breakage. Most transmissions can be rebuilt, and that is done every day. Some people do get used transmissions from the salvage yard, and install them, but it takes a good mechanic to really look around for teltales, like missing brackets, bent lines, and other things that a backyard mechanic might install wrong, or not install at all, or even if it is the wrong transmission. You can take it to a transmission shop and have it inspected, but if it is working whats the point?
