Hello; Here is a good one....So I have some single crystal quartz blocks leftover from another optical job, and I need to rotate the Z axis 62 degrees towards the Y axis. I have been told that I need to know which face is the -X, which I do not know. Is there a way to differentiate between -X and + X after the fact. I have been told that if I have the -X down, I rotate counterclockwise, and if the +X is down, then I need to rotate clockwise the 62 degrees. Is this true, and if so, why, and does this have anything to do with whether the original crystal stone is right handed or lefthanded (our material is right handed)Best regardsBill MarriottVA Optical Labs
Quartz is a very common mineral. It's an opaque white stone and the best place is on riverbanks. You have quite a few in you country. A good place is the Sulphur Creek which flows south bringing with it a lot of different minerals. For example pyrite (fools gold), and of coarse your quartz plus mica and granite. Other places that you will find quartz is the Pit River and the Hat River. Look carefully and it will amaze you as to the variety of minerals and rocks you will discover. I hope this helps you.
