Question:

How to tighten rear brakes on my 2004 Kawasaki Ninja?

I recently had the dealership change my rear tire on my motorcycle. I have noticed my rear brake is less responsive than before my new tire. I was wondering how to tighten up the rear brake pads so my rear brake has more stopping power. Any help or tips?

Answer:

Should be an adjuster on the back of the brakes thats how my geo was or you can take it completely apart by taking off the tire/rim and inspect it yourself
You can't tighten disc-brakes exactly, the calipers set just a few thousands of an inch off the rotor so unless the tire-changing mechanic put his greasy paws on the rotor or something to that nature than check the rear master brake cylinder for the correct level of fluid. I've found that if you can find an area of relative riding calm, speed up than apply the brakes rather hard without skidding and the calipers will find their place.
Is it the brake, or merely the tire? New tires ALWAYS feel different than the junk that came off.
