Question:

Hydraulic/pneumatic help?

Our class has to make a crane that can lift an empty pop can 30 cm(12 in.) It has to use both hydraulics and pneumatics and the only materials we can use are Lego, Knex, balloons, string, syringes, 3-way valves, and strawsAnyone know how how to make this work?

Answer:

I would figure the balloons would be used to store the compressed air (energy) Syringes would use compressed air controlled by the valve to extend in lengthThis extension could pull the string up lifting the load.
If it is kicking on every 7 minutes, it is time to have the unit servicedThe unit should STAY on for more than 7 minutes per cycleInsulation may be needed, but, by itself, it won't solve your problem.
