Question:

Hypersonic airplanes don't have pointy noses?

Often when looking at a design for a hypersonic airplane, the nose is a wide, wedge shape rather than a pointIf you look at pictures of the x-43 or others, you'll see what I meanIt seems that at that speed, nearly any shape could produce liftIt also seems that with the massive drag of hypersonic flight, that anything to reduce drag should be doneA pointy nose seems more aerodynamically efficientWhy are they wedge shaped, and not cone shaped?

Answer:

Because of heat considerationsWhen going at hypersonic speed, the heat gradient is inversely proportional to the radius of curvatureThe pointier the object, the hotter it will getWhen flying at Mach 3.2, the SR-71 outside skin panels were heated to over 600 F from air friction (that is why they were titanium, aluminium alloys would have not tolerated the heat)At supersonic speed, the actual shape of the body (being pointy as opposed to being bluff) is not as important, as the air does not have time to move out of the way anyway, as pressure waves propagate only at the speed of soundAnything that is outside of the Mach shockwave cone is not influenced by the object generating the waveOf course, the high speed regime imposes design choices that are less than optimal for lower speeds, making things complicated as a fast plane has to travel at those intermediate speed on the way to the cruise velocitySo, you see, that is not that easy a problem to solve.
You can't cook it without fire.
yes, you can cook potatoes in a pan on the grillI would par cook the potatoes, for ten minutes with a small amount of water in the microwave first, just wash them, do not peel them, then continue on the grillIt will not take as long this wayIf you do not have a microwave, then you can boil them in a pot for a short time unpeeled, then continue on the grill.
When I initially read your question I thought you were talking about whole potatoesI agree with partially cooking first so the rest of your ingredients do not over cookSkin onTry adding bell pepper rings, garlic cloves, celery sticks, carrot strips and minced jalapenoJust before you remove it from the grill add some thick slices of meaty tomatoes (2 minutes) Enjoy
