Answer:

No helmet eh? I won't lecture you on the importance of wearing all the gear all the time, even when its hot. [hotter here than Houston ever gets!] Nor will I belabor the obvious that eye protection comes from a proper set of goggles or face shield and not from a pair of Wallgreens sun glasses. A helmet with a proper UV blocking shield will also protect you from possible skin lesions down the road. Pick up any high SPF sports type sun bloc and you'll find it not greasy or smelling like a tropical fruit salad.
A full face helmet with a CLEAR, not tinted visor, and sunglasses Even a light tint is dark at nioght and you will get caught out at night. Rode in Houston for 15 years.
Glue is used on a 'glue joint' or 'slip joint'. Compression fittings work by the outer part, or a ferrule compressing into the surface of the inner part, until it almost bites into the plastic. The important thing on plastic compression fittings, is, if the pipe is flexible tubing, make sure you use the insert sleeve, as it gives shape/rigidity to the pipe so that the compression force doesn't simply crush it. This looks like a smaller piece of tubing that slips inside the flexible tubing. So, long of the short of it.No, you don't need glue.
I wear full leather regardless of weather. Don't be a squid get a helmet.
