First of all a 10min/1block walk is not that big of a deal, but my vote is for you to live in a dormThe walking up to the 4th floor will help combat the 'Freshman 15' and it's just awsome to make friends with people that live with you and be able to walk down the hall and hang out with someone or study together and w/eI only HAD to live in the dorms for 1 yr but me and all my friends did it for a second year and the only reason I moved was b/c it was cheaper to move out, but if cost wouldn't have been a factor I'd have wanted to stay.

That might be another optionThe good thing about those is that your social life is somewhat planned out for you, leaving you with a structured schedule for studyingAlso some of your sisters will take classes with you, making it easier to have study groupsAnd you don't have to be the Sorority Type to join; my wife was in a sorority and I never thought I'd marry a sorority girl!
