I had that happening in my room too! Except it happened every 5 minutes or less, and I couldn't sleep! The batteries and the wiring was FINE (my mom was a firefighter, so she KNOWS!) and we couldn't get it to stop! So we just ripped the darn thing right out of the ceiling! LOL
Next time you're in Fort Plain, NY (easy to do, since it's on the Thruway, 2 miles west of the Canajoharie exit, on Route 5S), look up the Reformed Church, on Canal Street. Notice its lack of a steeple. The whole thing was blown off by a hurricane, in the 1940s. Churches aren't exempt from natural events. Just ask the people in the Kansas town that had theirs levelled (along with the whole rest of the town), a few weeks ago.
