I have a 2004 Dodge, Durango. It has the stock 6 disc stereo, DVD, Sirrus combo. One of the kids left the light on one night and we had to jump-start the car. Since then the CD player will not work. Everything else works just fine. It is like the CD player doesn't exist. Has anyone else had this happen? Does anyone know how to fix it? I know i could take it to the dealer and they could probably fix it for a marginal fee. I was trying to avoid that route if I could. I am mechanically inclined so if it can be fixed I could probably do it. If it is something that is actually broken, I guess I am SOL.
There are 3 greater subject concerns to contemplate and a couple of conceivable concepts i can think of of. a million. it could be well worth at the same time as checking if the amp is in working order. in the experience that your battery remains being drained on a low point of music then attempt working this amp in yet another automobile. it must be the amp at fault! 2. it must be the tip of the battery existence. I as quickly as had a collection up and the battery have been given drained. I replaced the battery and by no ability had a situation lower back. 3. there's a short someplace else interior the vehicle, in specific situations wires can come aside or make touch with yet another floor to empty. conceivable concepts if the amp isn't at fault: a million. Uprate the battery and alternator in case you often crank. you may want a deep cycle battery including an Optima yellow authentic. 2. the great 3: This includes 3 wires. a) 8awg minimum floor from battery to physique (bare metallic) b) 8awg minimum floor from alternator to physique c) 8awg minimum from alternator beneficial to beneficial on battery See how that is going!
Your probably going to have to get the code for the player. But start with the fuses.
Could have popped a fuse on the deck, but also may have damaged the power supply in the cd player by way of power surge.
Several possibilities: Could be a blown fuse. Check your fusebox (in the cabin and maybe even under the hood). Sometimes fuses do joint duty. If your domelight stopped working, they may be connected. Could be that the jump damaged the cd player - yes, sorry, it can happen. Check for a reset button. It would be a tiny hole somewhere on the face of the unit that you would need to poke with the tip of a pen. There probably isn't one, but it might exist. Alternatively, if you can identify the fuse used for the cd player, pull it and then replace it. Just make sure if your unit is powered off that you don't need to enter a code to make it work again. From my experience, factory audio equipment has a short working life. Using cheap stuff is one way for manufacturers to save money. You may need to replace it. Might still be under warranty
Check the fuse box and check on line if the stereo needs to be reset.
