Question:

I have a broken copper water pipe line and I dont have any money for a plumber, so, I was wonder if there is.

any good helpful web sites or if anyone has any idea how to fix it on my own. It is slit on the side and the hole is about 1/4 inch wide.

Answer:

suggestion. You need 1) pipe cutter. 2) sandpaper 3) double sided compresion fitting. 4) adjustable wrench If you can find a double sided compression fitting. Turn the main water off to your house. Cut the pipe above and below the hole with the pipe cutter. Put on the compression fitting. A compresion fitting simply screws to the pipe easier fix the try to add a new copper sleave which needs to be sweated on. Another possibility, go to your local HOme Dept.ect. and see if they have a patch pipe that actually goes around the outside and tightens down like a clamp.
Very easy fix if you dont have soldering skills or tools, is to go to the hardware store and get whats called a compression fitting in the size of your pipe. Then cut the pipe on each side of the bad part and install the fitting. you can use a hacksaw but its only 2-3 $ for a cheap tubing cutter while your at the store. the fitting is longer so you can cut 1/2 out of the pipe and no problem. If you cut much more just get anouther fitting and a small piece of pipe to replace the section. the fitting is just tightend with 2 wrenchs or pliers or what you have.
