Question:

i have a fast digestive system anyway to slow it down?

i have a fast digestive system anyway to slow it down?

Answer:

This depends entirely on your horse and your needs from your horseI generally use a lined canvas for my oldies and in-work horses in winter and nothing in summerSome people like to put summer rugs on though summer but you'd be best to ask someone who knows your horse as to what rugging they requireThe above posts that say horse don't need rugging at all are totally incorrect if you wish your horse to live into their 30's and be ridable all year roundIf you have a grey you may also NEED to rug all year as they are very prone to skin cancer (mine got it before i got her but more was prevented with rugging)Go to your local Horseland or Europa and ask them about their rug range but don't be fooled into buying the mos expensive rug they haveIMO the best are the lined canvas and Kool-Coat, never had one rip and they are easy to put on and take off.
This Site Might Help YouRE: What types of horse blankets are needed? I have seen several different types of horse blankets but do not know what is necessaryThanks!
Actually you do not NEED any kind of blanketDepending if your horse was stalled before you got it will play a factor in its comfort however! My horses growing up never had a blanketThey grow nice hairy coats to keep them warm and believe it or not the snow that falls also insulates themIf they were kept indoors up till now they may have a lighter hair coat so a winter blanket would help itStatelinetack has a good amount of blankets make sure you get one that repells water though or all your doing is making this worse.as far as weight goes with that it depends how hairy it is and how cold it gets there.my arab gets pretty hairy (however she's 19) and so when it gets to below zero I put on her blanket its not super heavy just enough to help keep her warmerIt is dark colored as well to help bring in warmth from the sun! In the summer I have a cooling sheet for when we do heavy workouts so that she doesn't get chilled if its chillier out (use it in the winter and fall to) I also have a very light weight summer turnout blanket that I mainly got for showing so when she was clean she didn't roll and get dirty and then for trailering in rainy cooler weather or crisp fall trailer ridesLike I said though I don't blanket for winter unless its below zero and my belief is horses grow thick fuzy coats because its there natraul way of staying warm if you always blanket their bodies tell them they are already warm so no need for a thick winter coat! Hope this helps some.

What do you mean, a fast digestive system? You mean food moves through it too quickly? If that's the case, try weaning yourself off any stimulants such as coffee, chocolate, colas or other caffeinated drinks, energy drinks, OTC stimulants like Adderall or Ritalin, and nicotineAll stimulants have some effect on your digestive tract and it usually involves stimulating it (speeding it up.) Try not to eat too much fruit, especially fruits with a lot of soluble fiber.
